Work and Travel Abroad
Work and Travel offers a unique and affordable way to gain work experience and first-hand everyday life experience in your destination country. Earn money, help finance your program, learn about the culture and people, improve your language skills and during your days off or after your program, travel around the country.
** Eligibility requirements will vary and may change depending upon labor laws in the various countries. TYPES OF JOBS AVAILABLEParticipants in the Work and Travel program are usually offered entry-level jobs in the tourism and hospitality industry, retail stores, restaurants, pubs, call centers, telemarketing, ski resorts, etc. Other options (depending upon your language and other skills) may include working in basic administration positions or clerical work, promotional work, temporary work for special events or fairs, factory work or teaching your language as a foreign language. Teaching English in Asia or United Arab Emirates: if you are native English speaking, have a bachelor degree in any field of study or a university diploma in English or Education, are flexible and have a great personality are in good physical and mental health, between 21 and 50 years old, willing to commit for at least 12 months, you are eligible to apply for a paid position as an English teacher in Thailand, Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates. You earn approximately US$1000 to 1200 per month, receive insurance, free accommodation and/or airfare depending on the country of destination. LANGUAGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSYour job possibilities depend upon your background, personality, work experience, knowledge and language skills. Job options also depend upon your availability and the seasonality of certain jobs. ACCOMMODATIONHomestays are very popular and usually the best way to be introduced to the way of life in your destination country (single or double room, self catering or half board basis). For more independent students, student residences or shared flats and houses are also a good option. Most of our partners offer housing services together with their work and travel programs. Please note that fees are subject to change due to language school and/or accommodation-related costs as well as fluctuations in visa fees, currency exchange rates and other factors beyond CICD's control. Additional costs to budget:
PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICYPayment: 50% of the total program fee including nonrefundable deposit are due to CICD at the time you decide to actually register for a program; the remaining balance due is payable to CICD a minimum of 4 weeks before your program start date. Refund policy: The total fees and refund policy are specific to each program and options you choose. You get detailed refund information after completing the free online inquiry form for your chosen program(s) included in the internship/volunteer program information packet.
